Cyanotypes use a UV photographic printing process to produce a deep indigo print. I create each cyanotype using plants that I grow or gather from my garden, my neighborhood, and around the city.
This particular art process relies heavily on the earth and the sun. I love that the sun is not only the catalyst that drew these plants from the earth but that it is one of the defining factors in how each cyanotype is created. Due to the variety of environmental conditions in this natural printing process, the indigo blue varies from piece to piece. All of it seems pretty magical to me!
