Art Journaling Workshop

Just because you’re not an ‘artist’ doesn’t mean you’re not creative. Everyone is creative and allowing artistic expression in your life has been scientifically proven to reduce stress and anxiety.
This all-inclusive art 3 hour art journaling workshop will help you prioritize artistic expression and start looking forward to the year ahead.
Don’t worry, No art experience is needed. This will be a judgement-free zone full of community, music and support. This is relaxed teaching and time for you to play, loosen up and let your creative spirit move you.
We will be gathering in a gorgeous studio with big windows, lots of light, and nature views. It was built in summer 2025 in the meadow behind the O'Hara house, a private oasis that has been on the AIA homes tour and featured in Austin Home. It’s the perfect space to slow down, listen inward, and express what’s stirring within through color, texture, and fun creative exercises.
In the studio, you will be harnessing the new year January energy to receive:
- more creative confidence than you walked in with
- your very own art journal to take home
- colorful pages with your personal creative touch
- a chance to make a mess if you want to and not have to clean up
- 3 hours to play without having to check the time
- an analog tactile experience with real, like-minded people
- a chance to detach from your phone
- a way to hit the pause button on your busy schedule to envision exactly what you want to invite in for 2026.
I will guide you as we delve into intention setting, intuitive mark-making, mixed media layers and journaling as a tool for expanding your clarity and creative growth. You’ll explore art journaling and receive your own art journal for you to keep both as memory of the feelings you experience in this workshop and a tool for future reflection, renewals and art making.
All materials are provided so all you need to bring is your curiosity and an openness to explore. You’ll leave with pages that feel alive with movement, meaning, and the energy of new beginnings for 2026.
Note: if you have certain paint colors that you absolutely love, please bring them.

"I don't have any art experience" Don't worry, beginners are welcome
"I don't know, I always have Saturday errands." Yeah, I totally understand. Imagine how much more fun you will have, though, if you gave yourself the gift of stepping away from your to-do list for a few hours on this one Saturday to do something unique and nourishing for yourself. To give yourself the time and space to let out your playful spirit and have more fun than stress.
"This sounds intimidating and, anyway, I'm not creative enough to take an art workshop." First of all, give me 3 hours and I will change your mind. :) Second, I'm a very relaxed teacher and my workshop will emphasize playful curiosity not rigid rules. Third, I will guide you every step of the way.
"What exactly will we be doing?" We will start by hitting the pause button on your busy schedule to envision exactly what you want to invite in for 2026. Then, I will introduce you to the magic of art journaling and share some of my journals to get your juices flowing. And finally, we will get some music going and I will take you step-by-step through techniques that blast away the blank page while creating layers and layers of juicy color and texture.
"I don't have any art supplies" That's quite all right because I'm bringing everything you need. In fact, all you need to bring is your curiosity and willingness to try new things. I will provide the rest.
