Vintage Italy iv
This Vintage Italy series grew out of creative time I spent in an artist residency in the foothills of Florence, Italy, in October 2018. It was such a special time.
I lived in a studio on the top floor of a restored Tuscan farmhouse. The light filling that room was truly something else and each window had views of rolling forested hills and olive groves. This studio was my work/sleep room with an ensuite bathroom so I could work late into the night.
Each day was slightly different. Some were filled with concentrated studio time, creative exploration, and mess-making. Others were spent scouring Tuscan markets for collage material.
This piece features some of those unique finds, including antique maps & stamp, flowers from vintage wallpaper, and an Italian landscape printed in 1923 and perfectly sepia-tinted by age. I was immediately intrigued by the estate on this landscape. What family lived here and for how many centuries? What did they grow on their land? How many times did the sun rise and set over their home?
About this Print
The sun hovering over this ancestral land is hand-embellished with gold paint and glints when the light falls gently on it.
This piece is printed on bright white, archival, 340 gsm cotton fine art paper. It is acid, linen and chlorine free. The cold press quality of the paper provides an elegantly textured finish, enabling rich, deep blacks and an incredibly wide color gamut. There is a 1 inch white border around the print image.
The original has sold. Please note that this is an 11x14 print and will arrive without a frame. It will, however, easily fit into a standard 11x14 inch frame of your choice.
